The Great Stanmore Bake Off

The room was full of little sticky fingers (and some older, less-sticky fingers) as a wonderful group of children and adults baked challah together under the calm direction of Rebbetzin Naomi Birnbaum.   Together they made the dough and a bracha as they took off a piece of challah (in the merit of the hostages) and plaited their challot into beautiful – and some innovative – shapes and braids.

The children helped the adults, and the adults helped the children, and a real buzz filled the room. Ready-plaited challot were taken home for baking with a sense of immense pride—ready to be eaten at the Shabbat meal.
