Thank you to everyone in the community who helped make Mitzvah Day a great success! The day started in the kitchen with delicious soup making for the homeless and getting the hall ready for the senior tea. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare sandwiches for the tea- teamwork at its best highlighting this years Mitzvah Day theme of ‘Stronger Together’.
Donations were collected and sorted for All aboard, Camp Simcha, GIFT, Watford New Hope Trust, Goods for Good and Sebby’s Corner. Thank you to everyone for dropping items off ready to benefit those in need.
The afternoon Giving Fair was buzzing with the various activities including making tote bags for Leket Israel Giving Tree, making dog toys for the National Animal Welfare Trust, planting flowers for local JLiving residents, stencil card making for Save a Child’s Heart in Israel, glitter tattoos / face painting / hair braiding for donations to Chai Cancer Care and making beaded jewellery for our friends in Talpiot Youth Village. Young families enjoyed exploring the activities whilst benefitting others.
A lovely atmosphere was also present at the seniors tea where friends could chat over a delicious tea – served by volunteers including the girls from Sixth Stanmore Brownies. The entertainment was spot on with music by the Satin Dollz, one of the country’s premier vintage acts, who delighted everyone with their big band sound, tight vocal harmonies, and showstopping tap dancing to much-loved songs.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, got involved and helped to make Mitzvah day come to life at Stanmore!
