This past Shabbat, the 18–30s community hosted a wonderful Chanukah FND joint with Edgware United. Building on the success of last year’s Friday Night Dinner, this event formed part of a growing and vibrant programme of 18–30s activities that have taken place over the past year, including a summer BBQ, an escape room night, the Summer Seuda series, Rosh Hashanah’s “Teshuva and Tequila”, and much more. Together, these events have created real momentum, with increasing attendance and a sense of excitement around each new programme.
Joining together two local communities, many of whom were already acquainted, brought a genuine sense of achdut and breathed new liveliness into the Stanmore Shabbat scene, with over 50 fun-filled attendees. The evening featured a delicious multi-course meal, a lively Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv sing-along service, drinks, and a fantastic programme of activities. A particular highlight was a spirited game of Jewish Articulate, brilliantly run by the fantastic Rabbi Eli, which had everyone engaged.
Alongside the fun, Rabbi Eli delivered a meaningful and accessible shiur, adding depth and Jewish insight to the evening. Throughout the night, there were countless opportunities for people to meet new faces, socialise, and feel part of shul life. Many attendees commented on how welcoming and inclusive the atmosphere felt, whether they were regulars or newcomers to such events.
Altogether, the night really set the bar high for the final Young Professionals event of 2025 and was a fitting culmination of a year that has seen the 18–30s offering go from strength to strength. This thriving and inclusive young Stanmore scene – created from the ground up – has become a space where Jewish connection, friendship, and community can flourish. We are incredibly proud of this project and look forward to seeing it continue to grow from strength to strength in the years ahead.
