Those of us in the SACPS Pickleball Club use the words “kitchen” and “dinking” nearly every week. Don’t worry—we’re not confused, we haven’t started a secret culinary art. That’s just pickleball for you!
For the past year, the Freeman Susman Hall has been transformed into a pickleball court every Tuesday. We have three sessions at 2 pm. 6:30 pm and 8 pm, when around 30 men, women, and children come together to play this exciting, fast-growing game.
On Sunday, 7th December, eight of us, whose ages range from 12 to 73, played our first tournament against the Aspire team. There was plenty of shouting, laughing, and great energy throughout the afternoon. And although we lost 19–13 to a tough opposition, we all played brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a fun and memorable day for all involved.
Thanks to Julian Synett and Jerry Bower for having the foresight to start this wonderful opportunity at Stanmore Shul.
