Pickleball comes to Stanmore Shul
What a brilliant idea for Pickleball to come to Stanmore. Pickleball is a game played over a net on a court half the size of a tennis court, with a ‘paddle’ and a perforated hollow plastic ball. Its shades of tennis, badminton, and table tennis are all rolled into one, and it is suitable for everyone, regardless of age and ability. It’s very sociable and most of all it’s great fun.
At the time of writing, we’ve had two fantastic evenings of Pickleball with taster sessions and gameplay for beginners and improvers. One of the great things about this sport is that you can pick it up in no time, and by the end of your first session, you’ll be playing a game. Learning to score might take a little bit longer! Aside from the benefits of exercise, it’s really a fantastic way to acquire new skills and meet new people.
Special thanks to Jerry, Gary (our resident coach) and Julian for making this happen. Tuesdays in Stanmore will never be quite the same!
Booking through the ‘Events’ and ‘What’s on’ sections on the Shul website. You can also go to ‘Events’ and ‘Pickleball’ to find out more about this increasingly popular sport. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new Pickleballers.
