Stanmore said Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! more members for Mitzvahs
Everyone from the very young to the young-at-heart Laid All Their Love at SACPS when they came together to celebrate 20 years of Mitzvah Day – “Building Bridges” across generations, faiths, and communities.
From making soup for a homeless charity in Harrow to collecting mountains of clothes, toys, and food supplies for those in need, hundreds of volunteers joined in with enthusiasm and generosity.
The synagogue’s youngest members created stencil cards for the international charity Save a Child’s Heart and planted flowers in decorated pots for residents of the jLiving housing association.
Meanwhile, the oldest members enjoyed a Super Trouper afternoon tea with fabulous entertainment by The ABBA Girls, whose sparkling performance had everyone singing along and saying Thank You for the Music! The event, supported by nearby luxury retirement home The Landsby, had guests dancing in their seats and feeling like they were Having the Time of Their Lives.
Local dignitaries who joined in the fun included the Deputy Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Yogesh Teli as well as Cllrs Marilyn Ashton and Kanti Rabadia.
In fact, for SACPS it’s been more than a single day – it’s been a mitzvah month. Activities began in late October with a multi-faith gardening event at Canons Park Memorial Garden, where volunteers from across the faith spectrum worked side by side to prepare the space for winter.
The synagogue was decked out in signature Mitzvah Day lime green bunting and balloons, welcoming donors and volunteers for a day filled with joy, song, and social action, proving once again that Money, Money, Money can’t buy the feeling of doing good together.
