Prior to the election of 4 July 2024, Stanmore and Belmont shuls arranged a “Meet the Candidates from Harrow East” hustings for their members. This was attended by over 150 people to hear from the candidates from the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Reform UK parties, ably chaired by Martin Levene.
The questions sent in by members ranged from Stanmore station to Putin via the NHS and special needs schooling, putting the candidates through their paces.
The audience shared their experiences of antisemitism with the 4 candidates, particularly the students in the audience who spoke about specific instances of antisemitism on their campuses.
The final words were a plea to all attendees to exercise their democratic right to vote in the forthcoming election.
