The Great Stanmore (Challah) Bake Off

This Shabbat, we will read the portion of Chayei Sarah which commemorates the life and legacy of our matriarch Sarah. Married to Abraham as the founding parents of the Jewish people, Sarah represents courage, faith and profound wisdom. 

Our sages teach that Sarah insituted the custom of baking special loaves of bread for Shabbat, and that miraculously the challah would remain fresh from one week to the next. 

We invite all parents and children to join us in a Great Big Stanmore Bake Off, preparing and making challah together while learning about its important role throughout Jewish history. Each bracha (blessing) will be recited in the merit of a speedy recovery for those injured during the conflict in Israel.

17:15 – Challah bake!

18:30 – Prayer for a speedy recovery and safe release of the hostages

18:45 – Refreshments
