At 10:30 a.m., the window in their bathroom was kicked in and terrorists entered their house. Omri and Lishay tried to keep their daughters quiet in the safe room, and had two knives with them to try and protect themselves.
A few hours later, the terrorists told Omri and the father of the another family to stand, and they took them, with their car keys to their cars. Minutes later, said Lishay, she saw them driving away. Omri was taken hostage and driven into Gaza in his own car.
Omri was last seen alive in a cynical Hamas propaganda video released on April 24th.
Since that fateful day, Omri’s father Dani left his home in the north of Israel behind and moved to Tel Aviv to become an ever-present at the Hostages Forum offices. There, Dani has played a central role in volunteering and campaigning as the desperate effort to return the hostages goes on. We are honoured to be joined by Dani as he shares the story of his experiences over the past 14 months, through trial and tribulation and yet with undying hope and optimism that he will be reunited with Omri very soon.
